Indeed on closer inspection their Complete Chicken Breast tinned food its made from 100% chicken breast, and contains a very impressive 75% meat content (compared to as little as 4% found in some supermarket brands).
What does ‘Complete’ mean?
This was something we wondered, over to Thrive:
‘Complete’ is a phrase that guarantees our pet food has all the vitamins, minerals and nutrients required for a balanced diet, as per the European Pet Food Industry Federation (FEDIAF) recommended guidelines. While most dry pet food is complete, the vast majority of wet foods are not, so will instead be labelled as ‘complementary’. All Thrive dry and wet foods are complete, so whether you feed them together or on their own, you can be sure that you are giving your pet a nutritionally balanced diet.
ThriveComplete Cat Food can also be used with their PremiumPlus cat food pictured above.
We tested this on our two indoor cats, one who’s admittedly not the fussiest eater in the world, and the other who’s known to turn her nose up at some wet foods. One has had trouble with cystitis in the past, and as a result we were keen to explore a high-quality wet food to help him take on more fluids.
First impressions were very good. We love the tin sizes; at 75 grams they’re not too big, and make for a sensibly sized meal for a young adult cat without overfeeding them, or a good snack for two cats.
On opening the tin it’s clear that the meat content is high. There’s no filler or unrecognisable mush; just moist, healthy-looking meat with zero filler.
Having fed both cats in the past with a mix of wet and dry food, and also the occasional ‘junk’ wet food pouch as a treat, we were worried they would turn their noses up a at clean, healthy alternative. We needn’t have worried, both cats loved it!
On this basis we can highly recommend Thrive. Thrive Complete Cat Food is an excellent choice of wet food for your cat, with a high content of high-quality meat and no additives or filler. Thrive isn’t the cheapest at just under £1 per 75ml tin if bought in bulk (you can buy packs of 12 tins from Amazon.co.uk), but the quality of Thrive’s cat food speaks for itself. We feel it’s definitely worth the premium.
